My Background and Training
I was born in Vancouver, Canada and moved to Southern California with my husband in 1984. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Accounting from the California State University, Northridge. With an accounting background it seemed logical to pursue money coaching, but I soon realized my true passion was to coach moms to create a life that works better for them and their family. So I pursued formal training at Coaches Training Institute – often referred to as the Harvard U of the coaching industry. I continue to advance my coaching skills regularly with education and ongoing practice sessions with fellow coaches.
Why I chose Life Coaching
Nothing is more gratifying to me than to listen to people and be a part of their personal growth. My desire to help others stems from my own personal journey of emotional healing.
I had a tough start in life. I was raised by alcoholic parents and was left with the responsibility of caring for my disabled sister. Consequently I carried a lot of anxiety and neurosis into adulthood. But because of many years of therapy with a gifted analyst I was able to emerge healthy and strong and ready for a fresh start. At that point I realized my difficult journey was not in vain and I knew that I wanted to devote the rest of my life to helping others. I chose Life Coaching because I felt that by writing, speaking and coaching, I could reach people who want assistance in creating a more fulfilling life. I especially enjoy working with “parentless” moms because I personally understand the unique challenges they face.
My Work in Ministry
The opportunity to use my life coaching skills arises in many areas of my life, including my Church where I have held several leadership positions over the past decade, most recently serving as Co-Moderator during a time of conflict and change.
